Privacy at DJ DIRT

Effective October 17, 2026. This notice describes the services currently used on DJ DIRT. An AdSense connection script is installed on public editorial pages for site verification and review. Optional analytics remains disabled.

Who operates this publication

The DJ Dirt is an independent electronic music publication. For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, contact thedjdirt4@gmail.com. Please do not send passwords, payment details or signature documents by email.

Browsing and hosting

Our hosting provider, Netlify, receives technical information needed to deliver the site, such as your IP address, browser details and requested page. Hosting and security logs are separate from optional analytics. Retention of technical logs depends on the hosting service and security purpose. Contact us with questions about a specific record.

Official video thumbnails and YouTube players connect to YouTube image or player hosts only after optional media is enabled. Video players load when you select a video or hover over a supported desktop preview. Hover previews start muted and stop when you move away unless you click to keep the player open. You can also use the direct source link without enabling an embedded player.

Credited profile images may load from artist or venue websites and image hosts used by Spotify, SoundCloud or other credited sources. These hosts receive technical information needed to deliver the image, such as your IP address and browser information. Profile images are separate from optional map backgrounds and media players; declining those players does not prevent a displayed profile image from loading.

Optional analytics

DJ DIRT previously used Google Analytics 4 to measure visits. Analytics is currently disabled. You can save your external-media preference without enabling analytics. We will update this notice and the applicable choices before introducing optional tracking.

Advertising

DJ DIRT has installed Google's AdSense script on its production homepage and Elevator editorial pages to connect the site for verification and review. Loading those pages contacts Google, which can receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details and page URL; the script may use cookies or local storage under Google's policies and applicable consent rules. Auto ads is currently turned off in our AdSense settings; installing the script is separate from approval or enabling ad placements. Our map/player preference controls do not control this AdSense connection script. We will configure the applicable advertising consent controls and update this notice before enabling advertising. House promotions advertise DJ DIRT itself. Read how Google uses information from partner sites and Google's advertising choices.

Maps, players and external media

Map backgrounds and embedded players are off until you allow external media. Maps may contact OpenStreetMap or CARTO; supported players may contact YouTube or SoundCloud. Providers can receive your IP address, browser information and requested media URL, and may use their own cookies or storage. Opening a source or official channel takes you to that provider under its own privacy policy. Artist social links remain available without enabling a player.

Your choices and local storage

We save your privacy preference in this browser and ask again after 180 days. You can also remove the stored record through your browser settings. Necessary site delivery remains available when optional features are declined. Browser storage can fail or be cleared; in that case optional features stay off until you choose otherwise. You can change your decision at any time.

Correspondence and submissions

If you email us, we receive the address and information you choose to provide. We use it to respond and handle the request. Do not include someone else's personal information unless necessary and appropriate. The newsletter link does not enroll you automatically; the newsletter link opens an email request.

Private access and confidentiality agreements

Administrative and research access use essential, signed session cookies when configured. The NDA workflow can collect a legal name, email, optional company/title, signature image, execution time and the agreement record. NDA records are stored in a separate verified-private repository when the service is configured; signing fails if that private storage cannot be established. Agreement records may be retained for the agreement and applicable legal purposes. Contact us about access, retention or deletion of a particular record.

Requests, retention and transfers

Contact us to ask about your information or request correction or deletion. Some records may need to be retained for security or legal obligations. Our providers may process information outside your country. We consider requests in light of the purpose for which information was collected and applicable obligations. Contact us for information about a specific provider or record.

Regional consent and children

Our current preference controls manage optional maps and players; they are not a Google-certified advertising consent management platform. Google requires a certified CMP integrated with the TCF for personalized ads in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Its current guidance describes some eligibility for non-personalized or limited ads from non-certified traffic, but those options do not remove applicable privacy obligations. DJ DIRT keeps all Google ads off until the selected implementation and regional obligations are reviewed. The publication covers music culture for a general audience and does not offer a child account service. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, please contact us.

Changes

We will update this notice when services or practices change. A material change to optional data use requires a new choice rather than silently reusing an older decision.
