What does Hype measure?
Hype measures news attention across the electronic music sources we scan: mentions, source diversity and recency. It is not a talent ranking, sales chart or endorsement.
Rankings refresh on scheduled scans. An earlier score can carry forward and decay when no new qualifying coverage is found, so a ranked entry may have zero current mentions. Historical coverage and social followers are separate measures.
Open a name to see its news sources, recorded Hype history and available verified artist accounts. New social graphs begin with real observations; unavailable counts are never treated as zero.

HYPE IN THE NEWS
HYPE IS MOMENTUM.
The DJ DIRT Hype Meter looks for electronic music entities creating measurable attention across independent sources. Current scoring considers mentions, source diversity, recency and entity confidence.
Hype scores and social followers are separate measures. A score can carry forward and gradually decline between news mentions, so zero current mentions does not necessarily mean a zero score. Artist pages show the available evidence and observation dates.
